In case you haven’t been paying attention, former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores is doing his best to blow the roof off of the NFL. Flores has filed a lawsuit against the league claiming racist hiring practices and implicating Dolphins owner Stephen M. Ross of offering to pay Flores extra to lose games in order to improve placement in the NFL draft.

It would be easy to say at this point, with all eyes on Flores, he’s untouchable right now. Unhireable. And you might be right. But on the other hand, this could be the perfect time for a team, like the Pittsburgh Steelers, to not only get a very talented defensive coach but also set an example for the league to follow.

The Steelers have always been at the forefront of minority hiring practices. Adding a coach like Flores would be the most Steeler thing the franchise could do. It would show once again, the Steelers are a franchise ahead of the curve and transparent in how they do business. Not to mention Flores would be part of a team with the most forthright and straightforward owners in all of professional sports.

Not to mention, Flores getting a coaching job, even if it isn’t as a head coach, would be incredible for his case as well as the other coaches which have and will come forward in this. Adding credibility to the notion not only that there are problems with how the NFL does business but that there are franchises that do not subscribe to them.

What do you think? Is this is the perfect opportunity for the Steelers, a team with a vacancy at defensive coordinator? Let us know in the comments.
