Apr. 4—PARKSTON — Andrew Newman’s RBI double in the eighth inning lifted Elk Point-Jefferson to a 4-3 high school baseball win over Parkston/Ethan/Tripp on Saturday.

With the game knotted up at 3-3, Newman’s double to right field scored Tyler Goehring for the winning run.

In the first inning, Goehring doubled for a 1-0 lead. In the fifth inning, Parkston Parkston/Ethan/Tripp scored on a stolen base during Logan Heidinger’s at-bat. Then Heidinger doubled, driving in one.

Goehring took the win for Elk Point-Jefferson. He surrendered zero runs on two hits over three and a third innings, striking out six and walking one.

Landon Sudbeck took the loss for Parkston Parkston/Ethan/Tripp Varsity. He went five innings, allowing three runs on five hits, striking out nine and walking zero.

Ben Swatek started the game for Elk Point-Jefferson. He went four and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on four hits, striking out eight. Kade Bialas started the game for Parkston Parkston/Ethan/Tripp Varsity. He surrendered one run on one hit over three innings, striking out two and walking one

Isaak Bialas led Parkston Parkston/Ethan/Tripp with two hits in four at bats.

Canton 7, Scotland/Menno 2

CANTON — Canton built a 5-2 lead and hung on for a high school baseball win over Scotland/Menno on Saturday.

Canton out-hit Scotland/Menno by a slim 7-5 margin. Dawson Bietz started for Scotland/Menno and lasted four innings, allowing six hits and five runs while striking out four. Kadeyn Ulmer and Jacob Schott entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one inning and one inning respectively.

Bietz led Scotland/Menno with two hits in three at bats.

Elkton 6, WWSSC 5

WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Elkton’s Ryan Krog smacked a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to secure a high school baseball victory over Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central on Friday.

WWSSC finished with nine hits, but left nine runners stranded on base and committed three errors. Elkton pulled ahead for 5-0 lead after two innings, but WWSSC responded with four runs in the fourth inning. In the inning, Cade Mohling and Dylan Schmike both hit RBI doubles. Cooper Hainy also drive in a run and Gerritt Brandenburg tied the score in next inning on an RBI single.

Krog earned the win for Elkton. He lasted three innings, allowing two hits and one run while striking out nine. Brandenburg took the loss after lasting two innings, allowing one run on two hits, striking out three and walking zero.

Coen Harvey started for the Blackhawks. He surrendered five runs on three hits over one and two-thirds innings, striking out three

Mohling went 2-for-3 at the plate. Elkton racked up five hits on the day. Krog and Jacob Timm all had multiple hits for Elkton.
