The Dallas Cowboys’ offensive line has been having a strong bounce-back season, however they could have issues fielding their preferred starting five in their next contest. Left tackle Tyron Smith re-injured his ankle after being limited in practice all week and missed the second half of their Week 8 road win over the Minnesota Vikings. He’s undergoing testing this week and may not be available for the Week 9 contest against the Denver Broncos.

The now, Von Miller-less Denver Broncos. The 4-4 Broncos won their Week 8 game as well, but apparently don’t think much of their chances to bring home a championship this season. They decided to trade their most decorated player, who was injured but likely held out of the game to preserve his trade value. Miller is now out of Denver after three First-Team All-Pros, eight Pro Bowls and a Super Bowl MVP.

Great that he won’t be there to harass Dak Prescott and his troubled calf, right? It would be, if he wasn’t being traded to one of Dallas’ chief rivals for the No. 1 seed in the NFC, the 7-1 Los Angeles Rams.

Denver is reportedly paying $9 million of the $9.7 million remaining in base salary for the active sack leader’s final year. The Rams had just a second-round pick and two third-round picks left, with no first rounder and have given those up in order to try and win in 2021. Adding Miller to a defense that already has the league’s best defensive tackle in Aaron Donald and one of the game’s top corners in Jalen Ramsey.

With Sean McVay running a competent offense, the addition could make the Rams the favorite in a stunningly deep field. Along with Dallas and the Rams, the Arizona Cardinals and Green Bay Packers also have just one loss and the defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers are right behind them all at 5-2.
