Notes: The first round didn’t feature any surprises. It tilted toward running backs with the honor of first non-RB drafted going to a tight end. While Kelce is a god among men at his position, this is a steep price for a tight end, especially in a managed league that allows teams to farm the waiver wire for production. Davante Adams just had his role as the top option for the reigning MVP secured and it’s reasonable to expect getting him in the final third of the first round may be a thing of the past by August.

Notes: Not everyone can get the 1.01 — in fact, only a single person can per league — but if you have the good fortune of starting your draft off with Christian McCaffery, Ray has laid out the blueprint for your next five rounds. With the best fantasy back of all time already locked up, he pivoted to hammering opponents at receiver, FLEX, and tight end in the ensuing rounds. McCaffrey affords teams the luxury of beating their opponents at running back on the whole, even if they botch their RB2 spot horrifically. He’s just that good. The strategy of taking an elite runner and then waiting forever works for most backs taken in the first round but there is something truly breathtaking about it when done with CMC.
