Snowfall blanketed Rapid City, South Dakota, on New Year’s Eve as the National Weather Service warned of dangerously cold wind chills through to Saturday.

The service posted this video showing the scene at its station, where it recorded just under two inches of snow.

The NWS said temperatures could drop to minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit, bringing about the risk of frostbite. Credit: NWS Rapid City via Storyful
