Team previews

France (+450 to win Euro 450)

The defending World Cup champions are the favorite to win Euro 2020 despite being in — by far — the toughest group in the tournament. France welcomes back star striker Karim Benzema to the national team and he’ll likely supplant Olivier Giroud as the team’s starting No. 9. Throw in players like Antoine Griezmann, Paul Pogba, N’Golo Kante and Kylian Mbappe and you have a stacked squad that should at least advance to the semifinals.

Best bet

Over 4.5 goals in the group stage (-140)

Germany (+800)

Germany’s youth movement following its 2018 World Cup flameout has taken a temporary pause. Players like Manuel Neuer, Toni Kroos, Mats Hummels and Thomas Muller are back in the team as Germany makes one more run at a trophy before longtime coach Joachim Low departs. Germany has made the semifinals of every Euro tournament under Low’s watch and anything less than that in 2021 will be considered a failure followup to that disastrous World Cup.

Best bet

Over 4.5 goals in the group stage (-200)

Portugal (+800)

Let’s put this group’s depth into some perspective. Portugal is No. 3 in the group to move on to the knockout stages and is in a tie for fourth-best odds to win the entire tournament. Those odds are slightly inflated by Cristiano Ronaldo and the team’s 2016 Euro title given the group situation, but Portugal will be a big threat if it moves on to the Round of 16. Bruno Fernandes may now be the team’s best player — he was Manchester United’s talisman — and the Portuguese have some of the best young talent in the world.

Best bet

Over 4.5 goals in the group stage (+155)

Hungary (+35000)

Poor Hungary. The Hungarians would have a fighting chance to make it out of the group stage in any other group. But they got stuck with three of the best teams in the tournament and making it to the knockout rounds. Hungary will need to up its goalscoring record to make a miracle run. It scored just eight goals in eight qualifying games before scoring five goals against Bulgaria and Iceland in the playoffs to sneak into the tournament.

Best bet

Hungary to finish last in Group F (-400)
