The Raiders are going into the 2022 offseason with a ton of uncertainty. They need a head coach and there are questions as to what the Raiders should do with Derek Carr and his contract, which expires after next season.

One thing we know for sure is that Mark Davis and the Raiders are going to be aggressive. After building a new stadium, he wants the Raiders to be competitive right now.

That’s why it’s fair to wonder if the Raiders will be in the Aaron Rodgers sweepstakes this offseason. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, he believes the Raiders will be in contention for the 2020 NFL MVP. Here is what he had to say about the possible landing spot for Rodgers:

“The Raiders are such a wild card, as you mentioned, because we don’t know what a new coach or general manager would want. And they have a good starter in Carr. But, if Rodgers’ priorities are being on the West Coast and having control over the offense, perhaps Vegas would slide into contention.”

Here is the appeal for Aaron Rodgers going to Las Vegas. He gets to move out west as Fowler mentioned. He can continue his career in a dome, playing mostly in good-weather games.

The Raiders also have a ton of cap space, which means they might be able to bing over Davante Adams as well in free agency. But maybe the most important part of this is that the Raiders need a face of the franchise.

Rodgers could essentially pick his head coach, offensive coordinator, etc. Without a doubt, the general manager here would listen to his suggestions when it comes to picking players, which seems to be a big issue in Green Bay. This would be one of the few situations in which Rodgers would have nearly complete control of the franchise, which he wants.

It still feels incredibly unlikely that Rodgers will come to Green Bay and it’s fair to wonder if he will even leave the Packers this year after another great season. However, the Raiders have to be on the shortlist of teams he considers for all of the reasons mentioned above.
