The No. 2 ranked Georgia Bulldogs are heavy favorites to beat No. 18 Auburn on Saturday in an SEC road game for the Bulldogs.

But Georgia’s struggled in the past on the road vs SEC West teams since Kirby Smart took over as head coach in Athens.

So, despite ESPN’s FPI giving UGA an 84.5% chance of beating Auburn on Saturday, Bulldogs fans are not counting this one as a done-deal just yet.

The number is up from 70.6% two weeks ago and up from the FPI’s original preseason chances released on August 24, which was 63.2%.

ESPN defines its FPI as a “measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team’s performance going forward for the rest of the season. FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is. Projected results are based on 10,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date, and the remaining schedule. Ratings and projections update daily.”

Georgia should win this game – its a 14.5 point favorite. But crazier things have happened. Who starts at quarterback? Is it Stetson Bennett? That could make all the difference right there in a hostile environment.
