Game notes: Once upon a time, back in April, the Tigers and Astros were both 6-6, following a three-game sweep by the Tigers in Houston. Since then, though, the Tigers are 26-36 while the Astros have gone 40-22 to surge into first place in the AL West. And when we say “surge,” we mean it: Houston has won 10 straight, while scoring at least six runs in eight of the 10 (including 13 runs on Wednesday night in Baltimore). Right-hander Luis Garcia is coming off one of his best starts of the season, allowing one run and striking out eight over seven innings on June 18 against the Chicago White Sox.
Tigers lineup: TBA.
ALL-STAR OPTIONS: Tigers ‘might look into the free agent market’ for a shortstop. Here’s why
MUCH RESPECT: Tigers’ Jake Rogers: Sharing the field with Yadier Molina ‘is an honor’
