The Kansas City Chiefs were left to lick their wounds after a loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, and they had a few big wounds.

Andy Reid updated reporters on injuries to Orlando Brown Jr. and Lucas Niang. Brown was injured during pregame warmups, while Niang suffered an injury during the game which required the cart to come out. He was quickly ruled out by the team and for good reason.

“Lucas Niang tore his patellar tendon, is what it looks like,” Reid said. “Then, Orlando Brown had a calf strain, that he did in pregame warmups there.”

Niang’s injury, should they get the information to confirm a patellar tendon tear, would be season-ending. He’s had an up-and-down year in his first season playing with the Chiefs, with injuries causing him to appear in just 11 games this season.

As for Brown, it sounds like his injury isn’t quite as serious and that he’ll be back in the lineup sooner than later. They’d welcome him back next week should he be able to recover enough to play. They’ll look to keep playing their starters with hopes of a Titans upset in Week 18 to help them clinch the No. 1 seed.

Reid had very high praise for Joe Thuney, who played left tackle for Kansas City after having no practice reps there during the week. He saw some action there back during training camp, but he’s seldom been able to practice tackle this season.

If Brown is forced to miss any stretch of time, it’s possible the Chiefs roll with the group of offensive linemen that they had out there today. They also have guys like Kyle Long and Prince Tega-Wanogho, who should be active for the team moving forward.
