Has got the hump about the coin toss which is repeated twice after the first one for some reason. Villa will go first.

08:34 PM
Chance for Chelsea sub Lukaku
Who raced into the box ahead of Hause but uncharacteristically dithered for just a second and the centre-half made a fantastic sliding tackle to hook it away.
08:33 PM
Iheanacho notches
Glorious finish from Kelechi Iheanacho from 20 yards to rifle a left-foot shot into the top-left corner.
08:32 PM
GOAL!!
Millwall 0-2 Leicester (Iheanacho)
08:32 PM
Cameron Archer’s equaliser
08:26 PM
Another Arsenal goal from the right
Terrific Nketiah finish with a drag-back heel from Cedric’s cross after Sambi Lokonga and Smith Rowe combined to send the Portugal defender into the box down the right.
08:24 PM
GOAL!!
Arsenal 3-0 Wimbledon (Nketiah)
08:23 PM
Result
Brighton 2-0 Swansea
Into the last 16 for the former Dolphins, who have knocked out both Cardiff and Swansea. Seagulls > Bluebirds and Swans.
08:22 PM
Smith Rowe comes off the bench to score
Some soft-shoe shuffling in the box as Arsenal pass it out to the right and, after Saka’s shot is blocked, the ball is worked back to Smith Rowe to sweep home a side-foot shot from 10 yards.
08:21 PM
GOAL!!
Arsenal 2-0 Wimbledon (Smith Rowe)
08:18 PM
Cameron Archer’s biggest fan
08:16 PM
Chelsea almost take the lead
Deep cross from the right, flicked on to Loftus-Cheek and the elegant midfielder takes a touch then back-heels to Mount who drills a right-foot daisycutter of a shot from the left of the area inches past the right post.
08:15 PM
Another chance at the Bridge
And it fell to Villa. Good footwork from the substitute Jayden Philogene-Bidace to hold off Chalobah, turn and slip a pass down the left of the box for El Ghazi who hammers a shot into Kepa’s chest. Had he gone lower he would surely have scored.
08:11 PM
Third time lucky for Cameron Archer
Sweeping move up the Villa right and Cash arcs over a wonderful cross. Archer pulls away from Sarr and twists his neck to bury the header from 12 yards.
08:10 PM
GOAL!!!
Chelsea 1-1 Aston Villa (Archer)
08:08 PM
Introduction of Traore has spooked Tottenham
He has been terrorising Spurs down the Wolves right but this goal comes down the left when Dendoncker exploits some dozy Tottenham control and plays in Podence cutting in from the left to shoot with his right and thrash it unstoppably past Gollini.
08:05 PM
Goal!!
Wolves 2-2 Spurs (Podence)
08:05 PM
First picture of Werner’s goal
08:03 PM
Werner, the good and the bad
Great back-post header from James’s cross after Hudson-Odoi backheeled to Ziyech who rolled it into James’ path. His cross was perfectly precise, parting Tuanzebe’s hair to arrive at Werner to score his first goal of the season.
A minute later Werner snatches at a back-post chance and the score stays within Villa’s reach.
08:00 PM
GOAL!!!
Chelsea 1-0 Villa (Werner)
08:00 PM
At Stamford Bridge
Thomas Tuchel has withdrawn N’Golo Kante and sent on Mason Mount. Chelsea fashion an opportunity quickly through Hudson-Odoi cutting in from the right to smack a shot that Steer saves and Werner isn’t quick enough to pounce on the rebound.
07:58 PM
Look ma, it’s Lookman
A first Leicester goal for the winger who joined on loan from RB Leipzig.
07:56 PM
GOAL!!!
Milwall 0-1 Leicester (Lookman)
07:55 PM
Big chance for Wolves
After clever work from Hoever down the right to beat Davies, get to the byline and ping over a low cross that Hwang lunges to meet at the near post but can’t turn his prodded/flicked shot on target.
07:53 PM
Here’s Kepa’s save from Cameron Archer
And Chilwell heads into and out of the crowd
07:41 PM
Play has resumed at the Amex
And Swansea should be level – Cullen hitting the bar and Steele tipping Whittaker’s shot behind.
Tariq Lamptey, as planned, has gone off after the first half after almost a year out injured.
07:36 PM
Half-time scores
-
Brighton 2-0 Swansea (7.30pm)
-
Arsenal 1-0 AFC Wimbledon (7.45pm)
-
Chelsea 0-0 Aston Villa (7.45pm)
-
Millwall 0-0 Leicester City (7.45pm)
-
Wolves 1-2 Spurs (7.45pm)
07:33 PM
Good save from Kepa
Cameron Archer slips down the inside-left, drops his shoulder and shoots and the world’s costliest keeper saves it smartly with his arm and James clears El Gahzi’s effort from the rebound off the line.
07:32 PM
Chance for Spurs
Tanganga makes a rangy run from halfway after winning the ball back, plays a give-and-go with Kane but then blazes it over from a tight angle.
07:31 PM
Villa injury
French midfielder Morgan Sanson, whose second appearance of the season this was, cannot continue and he has to be replaced by Carney Chukwuemeka.
07:27 PM
Dendoncker with a bullet
Ait-Nouri takes a corner from the right with his left, sending a booming outswinger to the back post where Dendoncker leaps to bury it past Gollina with a bullet.
Ndombele, who was marking him, got the wrong side and made a pathetic ‘shut that door’ leg kick-up to try to compensate, utterly inc0nsequentially.
07:25 PM
GOAL!!!
Wolves 1-2 Tottenham (Dendoncker)
07:21 PM
It’s such a dull game at Stamford Bridge
That the TV cameras keep peeling away from the action to pick out the Duke of Cambridge cheering on the Villa in the crowd.
07:20 PM
Connolly spurns a hat-trick chance
Moder, the Poland midfielder, skips down the right and rolls a pass inside for Connolly 15 yards out on the run but his shot whistles past the post.
That’s half-time at the Amex in the early kick-off.
07:16 PM
Purple and green should never be seen
Harry Kane scores his first goal in domestic competition for Tottenham this season.
07:13 PM
Connolly does it again
And it’s pretty similar bar the deflection, running on to a pass hit assuredly from centre to the inside-left. He takes it in his stride, cuts back on his right and thumps a shot into the bottom left corner.
07:12 PM
GOAL!!
Brighton 2-0 Swansea (Connolly)
07:12 PM
One of their own on the scoresheet
Fantastic finish from Harry Kane even though he is wearing the most hideous shirt. Lo Celso wins the ball back in the centre-circle, clips it up to Dele Alli who slides a pass between the two centre-backs and Kane races on to it and lashes it past the keeper from 18 yards.
07:10 PM
GOAL!!!
Wolves 0-2 Tottenham (Kane)
07:07 PM
Connolly scores for Brighton!
Aaron Connolly was sent down the left with a cute angled pass from Mac Allister. He cuts into the box to shoot with his right and the ball hits a defender who was sliding in to block and skips off his foot to go over the keeper and into the bottom right corner.
07:06 PM
GOAL!!
Brighton 1-0 Swansea (Connolly)
07:05 PM
That Arsenal penalty
Came from a foul on Gabriel Martinelli as he scampered into the area from the right and was tripped.
07:01 PM
Spurs take the lead
Fantastic tenacity to win the ball and barrel down the inside left, he forces two to bounce off him, keeping the ball with his left foot before slotting it past Ruddy at an angle from 12-15 yards.
07:00 PM
GOAL!!!
Wolves 0-1 Tottenham (Ndombele)
06:58 PM
GOAL!!!
Arsenal 1-0 Wimbledon (Lacazette, pen)
06:57 PM
Injury at Molineux
Yerson Mosquera went down off the ball and has been stretchered off in tears.
06:56 PM
Big chance for Villa
For Archer who was played in by Sanson but when he tried to dink it over the keeper, he got too far under it and chipped it over the bar.
06:52 PM
Cagey start at Stamford Bridge
With Chelsea dominating possession.
06:51 PM
Chance at Old Trafford
For Jarrod Bowen – if you want to check it out, join Jake Goodwill here.
06:50 PM

Good evening
Welcome to coverage of tonight’s five third-round Carabao Cup ties that are not Manchester United vs West Ham United or, as they would be called by Paul Ince, who played for both, Mantunite and West Ham. That means we’ll be covering the goal going in and all the news from:
-
Brighton vs Swansea (7.30pm)
-
Arsenal vs AFC Wimbledon (7.45pm)
-
Chelsea vs Aston Villa (7.45pm)
-
Millwall vs Leicester City (7.45pm)
-
Wolves vs Spurs (7.45pm)
We will have all the team news as it lands, the scores, shootouts, should last night be any guide, and ultimately the fourth-round draw once it’s determined who joins Leeds, Manchester City, Liverpool, Brentford, Burnley, Preston, QPR, Southampton, Stoke and Sunderland in the last 16.
Chelsea, the last team outside Manchester to win it (City five, United one since 2016), will not be introducing half a dozen U23s unlike most clubs in their position – they have a formidable enough first-team squad to be able to field a host of household names who have not featured much in the Premier League this season without dipping deeper down their pyramid. But there could be rare opportunities for Ross Barkley, Malang Sarr and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Villa, who won it last in 1996, have named a provisional squad that is only two players – John McGinn and Leon Bailey – away from a normal, full-strength Premier League matchday squad. Emi Buendia, who was back from quarantine in Croatia and on the bench for the victory over Everton, is expected to start.
Granit Xhaka is suspended for Arsenal and given that AFC Winbledon made multiple changes in the last round, Mikel Arteta is sure to anticipate that and follow suit. Nuno returns to Wolves for the second time in 30 days with both managers poised to stir up selection though Spurs, concerned with not creating enough for Harry Kane since he came back into the side, may well give the England captain a run-out.
Tariq Lamptey should make his long-awaited Brighton comeback when Graham Potter’s side take on his old club Swansea in dear old Sussex by the Sea. Joel Piroe, Olivier Ntcham and Ben Cabango, who all came off the bench to help turn the tide at Luton last Saturday and secure a 3-3 draw, should start for the 2013 winners.
Shaun Hutchinson,Danny McNamara, Benik Afobe and George Evans have all returned from injury to the Millwall squad for tonight’s visit of three-time winners Leicester who will rest, rotate and freshen up according to the snouts at the King Power.
