Golf pro Bryson DeChambeau remains committed to hitting the longest drives of his career, and his Instagram can definitely attest to that: in a recent video shared from a Top Golf venue, the eight-time PGA Tour winner showed off the ball speeds he is able to hit with the “bomb and gage” technique he has been using since packing on 20 pounds of muscle in 2020.

Remarking that Top Golf “needs taller nets” in the caption of the short clip, DeChambeau clears the net at the range with his target ball speed of 200, prompting a flurry of seriously impressed comments from his followers.

“I want to try and get stronger, because I know there’s an advantage to be gained,” DeChambeau told Men’s Health last year following his muscle transformation. “If I could be like Happy Gilmore or Kyle Berkshire, hitting over 400 yards and hitting it straight? That is a massive, massive advantage. So I set out to do that, and I’ve been healthier and stronger ever since.”

DeChambeau worked closely with Greg Roskopf at Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT) on training with a mobility-first focus, and the results in terms of both strength and speed are are self-evident in his game.

“I’m going to keep working out every day and keep getting stronger, and keep speed training as long as I can tolerate it,” he said. “As long as everything is growing proportionally, I really don’t know how fast I can go. So I’m going to keep pushing the boundaries.”
