The Cleveland Browns have placed quarterback Baker Mayfield on injured reserve to end his season. Mayfield suffered a shoulder injury during Week 17 and will undergo surgery as soon as possible, per coach Kevin Stefanski.

Mayfield went on IR with linebacker Sione Takiktaki on Wednesday.

In corresponding moves, the Browns added quarterback Nick Mullens and running back Dexter Williams to the active roster. Williams came from the Miami Dolphins practice squad and was immediately placed on the COVID-19/reserve list. The Browns also added running back Artiavis Pierce to the practice quad.

Mullens will likely serve as backup to quarterback Case Keenum on Sunday when the Browns face off against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Williams has just seven carries for 19 yards since joining the NFL as a Green Bay Pakers’ sixth-round pick. He may get playing time with Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt nursing injury and D’Ernest Johnson headed to the COVID-19/reserve list.
