Aug. 17—Rio Rancho’s Brian Mendoza will face unbeaten southpaw slugger Jesus Alejandro Ramos Jr., headlining a nationally televised professional boxing card on Sept. 5 in Minneapolis.
Mendoza, a welterweight, confirmed on Facebook an announcement of the pairing by Premier Boxing Champions.
The card will be telecast on Fox and Fox Deportes, PBC announced.
Mendoza (19-1, 13 knockouts) lives and trains in Las Vegas, Nevada. He last fought on Aug. 29, 2020, defeating Thomas LaManna by unanimous decision. He’d been scheduled to face former welterweight world champion Julian Williams on June 26, but the bout was cancelled due to an injury to Williams.
Ramos (16-0, 14 KOs), a PBC contract fighter from Casa Grande, Arizona, has stayed busy through the COVID-19 pandemic. The Mendoza bout would be his fifth in a year’s time. He last fought on May 1, defeating Javier Molina by lopsided unanimous decision.
