Just when you think things can’t get worse for the Chicago Bears, they never fail to disappoint. The Bears were embarrassed in a 38-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in front of most of the country on Sunday.
This might be the loss that ends the Matt Nagy era in Chicago — whether that’s tomorrow morning or on Black Monday.
Four years into the Nagy experiment, and the offense has gotten progressively worse — and that with some talent on the roster. But Sunday’s loss to the Bucs was a reminder why the Bears can’t ride with Nagy any longer. Not only is his offense atrocious, but Chicago continues to get completely dominated by good football teams. This team isn’t going anywhere.
Even more important, rookie quarterback Justin Fields stands no chance to develop so long as Nagy is in charge. And, right now, the concern should be the future of the franchise — and Nagy certainly isn’t it.
Following Sunday’s humiliating loss to the Bucs, Bears fans made it clear that they’re done with Nagy.
This is embarrassing. So, so embarrassing.

This will be yet another game/reminder of why Matt Nagy cannot stay the HC beyond this year. His offense is awful & his teams get boat raced against top competition regularly.
This is who the #Bears are & have been under Nagy for the majority of his 4 seasons.

Justin Fields will be a good QB. Get him away from Matt Nagy. Give him an offensive line. Give him players who can make plays on offense.

The Matt Nagy era in Chicago is over. We’re just waiting for the notification.
— Ryan Fedrau (@the_fed_23) October 24, 2021
I’m just waiting for the notification that Matt Nagy got fired. Please.
— Joseph Herff (@JosephHerffNFL) October 24, 2021
I wish Tony Romo would stop saying that this isn’t who the #Bears are. This is exactly who we are. This has been Matt Nagy’s offense for years. The O-line is terrible and Nagy is unable to adjust.
— Flo Ottis (@flo_ottis) October 24, 2021
There’s absolutely zero reason Matt Nagy should go to bed tomorrow night with a job.
— Shane Riordan (@shane_riordan) October 24, 2021
People interested in Matt Nagy being gone are getting the results they probably need right now.#Bears
— Erik Lambert (@ErikLambert1) October 24, 2021
Matt Nagy did a great job getting these guys ready for today!
— Austin F (@PodGuyFuges) October 24, 2021
No one can criticize anything Justin Fields does from here on out while knowing Matt Nagy is still in charge.
— Ryan Heckman (@RyanHeckmanFS) October 24, 2021
There is no earthly way the McCaskeys feel that Matt Nagy is the man to shepherd Justin Fields and the #Bears into the future, is there?
— Aaron T. Starks 🌊 (@StarkyLuv73) October 24, 2021
Call me crazy but I dont think its a good thing for @ChicagoBears when Trubisky, Trestman, McCaskey, Pace, and Matt Nagy are trending all together at the same time #Bears
— Cloudy Future (@CloudyFuture) October 24, 2021
Matt Nagy should be fired the moment the team plane lands back in Chicago.
— Joe (@BarryOnHere) October 24, 2021
trying not to be dramatic but matt nagy’s use of justin fields constitutes a war crime
— Denny Carter (@CDCarter13) October 24, 2021
No QB will EVER be successful under Matt Nagy.
— m 🎃 (@downbadbears) October 24, 2021
Forget the free return flight to Chicago.
They should leave Matt Nagy in Tampa.
— Steve Bonham (@Nonsense_Steve) October 24, 2021
One of the worse performances I’ve witnessed bye a Bears team in a long time. Idk if fields is ready to play yet. He seemed overwhelmed and couldn’t read the defense nor protect the ball. Offense didn’t help him at all. Matt Nagy is responsible and should be fired immediately.
— Milan Diana (@MilanDiana8) October 24, 2021
Oh boy. Matt Nagy says in the locker room, #Bears talked about the pride they showed in the second half. Says the message was let’s let this be one loss, but not let it beat us 4 times.
— Mike Berman (@MikeBermanNBC) October 24, 2021
Matt Nagy just said “Let’s have this count as one loss, not four losses” and I’ve never wanted to sock him in the face more
— I🎃 (@BearsAreAss) October 24, 2021
dear #bears, fire matt nagy and promote bill lazor to interim head coach. if not because it can’t possibly get worse, do it because he kinda looks like billy donovan, who is the only good coach in chicago male team sports.
— Drunk Dylan Strome (@DrunkStrome) October 24, 2021
I hate Matt Nagy so much. He should be fired tonight. He won’t be for a variety of (mostly dumb) reasons. But all this talk is giving the utter failure Ryan Pace somewhat of a pass. And that’s wrong. #DaBears
— John (@UICJohn) October 24, 2021
I am shocked, surprised, and disturbed by this bears loss today. Maybe Matt Nagy isnt the one
— Gage⚜️ (@sucks_richard) October 24, 2021
Justin Fields is never going to be able to develop with Matt Nagy as the head coach. Until the front office realizes that it is going to keep being “One of those days for Justin Fields” https://t.co/2PbuAimN3Q
— Olivia (@oliviamariee7) October 24, 2021
Matt Nagy gives me hope that someone will hire me though I am very under qualified.#Bears
— Maker Bayfield (@Jozefowski) October 24, 2021
#Bears remember when Lane Kiffin was fired on the plane coming back from a road game? Fire Matt Nagy and Ryan Pace on the plane!
— scloh (@82Illini) October 25, 2021
My favorite part about Sundays is watching the Bears’ twitter live press conference and see Matt Nagy give general BS excuses to the press for losing by 20+, and seeing 5 comments per second just gunning him
— fire nagy (@J_Grassy) October 25, 2021
Temporary chargers fan until Matt Nagy is gone
— Logan H. (@RubberFanMan) October 25, 2021
Don’t judge Justin Fields behind a bad team, flawed organization, and inexperience. He’ll be fine and damn good…as soon as the Bears move away from Pace and Nagy.
— Ross Read (@RossRead) October 24, 2021
What more could anyone with decision-making authority at Halas Hall need to see to understand that this Pace-Nagy thing must end? Talent deficient, poorly coached. Just a bad look all around.
— dan durkin (@djdurkin) October 24, 2021
If Matt Nagy says “we gotta find the why” once during his press conference after the game I’m going off a bridge #dabears
— matt newton (@mattnewts) October 24, 2021
Seriously. Fire Nagy and promote Desai.
Desai can actually get a lot out of his players.#Bears
— Erik Lambert (@ErikLambert1) October 24, 2021
Why should the #Bears fire Pace and Nagy? (I know they won’t)
1) Accountability
2) Ends the charade this team is a playoff contender
3) Allows them to start evaluating players for 2022
4) The offensive game plans have been criminal
5) You can’t fire the McCaskeys— Lester A. Wiltfong Jr. (@wiltfongjr) October 24, 2021
This will be the game that ends the Nagy era.
