The Chicago Bears are in the thick of their search for a head coach, and four of the candidates they’ve interviewed just became available following the divisional playoffs.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich and defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, as well as Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll and defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier can be hired now.
Following a thrilling overtime game between the Bills and Kansas City Chiefs, Bears fans got an up-close look at at Daboll and Frazier, where the general consensus is that Daboll would be a good fit while Frazier should be shown the door.
It’s hard not to watch Daboll’s offense score a combined 83 points in two games and not envision what that could look like in Chicago. Especially given Daboll has been instrumental in the development of quarterback Josh Allen and Justin Fields’ development remains of high importance.
Frazier, on the other hand, didn’t make as strong of an impression. Not only did Buffalo allow 42 points to Kansas City, but they allowed Patrick Mahomes to march 44 yards down the field in 13 seconds for the game-tying field goal that forced overtime and eventually led to a Chiefs win.
Here’s what Bears Twitter had to say about Daboll and Frazier:
I can’t imagine being the #Bears, watching this second half and wanting Leslie Frazier to be my head coach.
Brian Daboll, on the other hand… 🤔

If Leslie Frazier gets a second interview with the #Bears, I’d have multiple questions about the coverage in that situation when they knew Mahomes had to unload the ball immediately.

Check out the QB’s the Buffalo defense faced this year. I’d hire like ten people before even considering Leslie Frazier. If wasn’t an 85 Bear, this wouldn’t even be a thing. https://t.co/xgKWsTdes2

chicago bears are gonna look at the bills-chiefs game, take a deep breath and tell themselves ‘we gotta get more Leslie Frazier’

The Bears interviewed Bills DC Leslie Frazier for HC. I sure hope they immediately took him off the list after that last 13 seconds and overtime. Wow!

It would be the most Bears move ever to hire Leslie Frazier as their next head coach after the complete meltdown of the Buffalo defense tonight.
Seriously inexcusable prevent defense with 13 seconds left should preclude Frazier from becoming a head coach any time soon.#BearDown— Jesse Wells (@JesseWellsNews) January 24, 2022
i rescind my thoughts on leslie frazier possibly being bears head coach. y’all can keep him, buffalo.

That’s not a response Matt Nagy would have had. Brian Daboll may have his own faults as a play caller at times but I don’t see many similarities between the two like I keep seeing on my timeline/mentions. #Bears

I don’t know how anyone could watch Brian Daboll’s offense and not see that it’s exactly what Justin Fields needs
— Adam Hoge (@AdamHoge) January 24, 2022
People are pointing out Daboll’s early tenures which is fair. But we are acting like people don’t learn from their mistakes. Which he has said that he has. I heard on podcast the biggest thing he has learned is to listen to his players more and Josh Allen is evidence of that

Even though the Bills lost, this game made me feel even better about Brian Daboll and his fit to be a head coach.
If the #Bears have an opportunity to make him the next head coach, they should absolutely do so.
— Nicholas Moreano (@NicholasMoreano) January 24, 2022
Only the #Bears can see how Daboll has developed Josh Allen and think “Y’know, that Leslie Frazier guy is just what this franchise needs.”

Give me Daboll. The design, the execution. Brilliant

Brian Daboll should be the next Bears head coach. His offense dropped 83 points in 2 games. I’d be very interested to see what he can do with Justin Fields
— Dominicc Hardy (@ThaDangerousOne) January 24, 2022
If bears want to save Fields. Daboll should be getting a blank check tomorrow. If they don’t give him one. Another QB into the toilet
— Johnny GB (@JohnnyGB412) January 24, 2022
I am all in and very desperate for Brian Daboll to be the Bears’ next head coach. Flores would be a solid consolation, but Daboll is the one. Please!!
— Jeremy Thomas (@jeremyt_2) January 24, 2022
Bears,
Hire Daboll tomorrow.
Sincerely,
Everybody

How can anyone watch Brian Daboll’s offense the past couple weeks and not think he’s exactly what the Bears need? Sadly, they’re gonna let him go to the Giants and hire Eberflus or something
— Noah Phalen (@Noahs_ark_2x2) January 24, 2022
I’ve seen enough. Brian Daboll needs the bears job now.
— My Bears Cast (@MyBearsCast) January 24, 2022
2 things, as Bears fans, we can say for certain after this game. Brian Daboll, YES. Leslie Frazier, NO.
