Jun. 15—Former Baylor School swimming standout Ellie Waldrep held her own and then some Monday at the Olympic Trials in Omaha, Nebraska.

Waldrep finished 18th out of 61 competitors in the 100-meter backstroke preliminaries, just missing out on the 16 who advanced to the semifinals. The Auburn University signee’s time of 1:01.06 was .04 seconds behind the 16th-place finisher.

Another former Baylor swimmer, current University of Florida senior Trey Freeman, finished sixth in the 400-meter freestyle final.
