Sergio Perez clinched a shock victory at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix after Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton both crashed out of a hugely dramatic race in Baku.
Verstappen had appeared to be cruising to victory until a tyre failure caused a 200mph crash at the City Circuit with less than five laps remaining. With debris scattered over the track, a red flag was issued, with Lewis Hamilton sitting in second and holding a great chance to take an imposing lead in the drivers’ standings.
However, straight from the restart, the Briton locked up at the first corner and crashed out himself in a dramatic twist, with Perez maintaining his lead to cross the line first, with Sebastian Vettel in second and Pierre Gasly in third.
