A’s clap back at MLB’s Ohtani tweet with Irvin praise originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea
Shohei Ohtani is a star, but it was Cole Irvin who shined the brightest Monday night.
Irvin (W, 7 IP, 7 H, 0 ER, 3 Ks) was fantastic, shutting out Ohtani (6 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 8 Ks) and the Angels before Los Angeles tallied a run in the ninth inning.
Ohtani is arguably the face of baseball, which MLB is more than thrilled to promote. After another great outing Monday, the MLB Twitter account praised the Angels’ star, which led to the A’s responding with praise for the games’ winning pitcher.
The A’s lefty came out on top, and his teams’ social media account made sure to remind us all.
