Aug. 21—ARMOUR — Class 11B No. 1 Winner rode a 45-point first-quarter lead to defeat Tripp-Delmont/Armour/Andes Central/Dakota Christian 57-6 in a Class 11B football game on Friday.
Winner’s Kaden Keiser ran for 45 yards and two touchdowns, Jack Peters and Joey Cole each rushed for a touchdown and Riley Orel rushed for 38 yards on two carries. Blake Volmer went 1-of-3 passing for 13 yards and connected with Slade Cournoyer for a touchdown.
Rizon Clark went 2-of-3 passing for 21 yards and had six carries for 35 yards for the TDA. Trey Starks caught two passes for 19 yards, while Apollo Weddell made six tackles. It was the Thunderhawks’ first game as an 11-man program.
Winner (1-0) will host Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan on Aug. 27. The Thunderhawks (0-1) are off next week and play at Wagner on Sept. 3.

Lyman 54, Lemmon/McIntosh 8
PRESHO — Lyman racked up 386 yards total and 19 first downs to roll past Lemmon/McIntosh on Friday.
Teagan Gourneau went 8-of-11 passing for 22 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 123 yards on six carries. Colton Collins ran for 135 yards on 13 carries and Jacob Sazue added 77 yards on six carries for the Raiders.
For Lemmon/McIntosh, Sawyer Thompson completed 11 of 21 passes for 143 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Cord Beer rushed for 30 yards on four attempts and Tanner Miller had five receptions for 78 yards.
Lyman (1-0) is off next week before traveling to Onida to play Sully Buttes on Sept. 3. Lemmon/McIntosh (0-1) hosts Herreid/Selby Area on Aug. 27 in Lemmon.
Avon 56, Corsica-Stickney 22
AVON — Avon earned its first win of the season, defeating Corsica-Stickney on Friday with 403 total yards.
Riley Rucktaeschel went 6-of-12 passing for 93 yards and two touchdowns for Avon, while tallying five carries for 70 yards and one touchdown. Brady Bierema had 12 carries for 96 yards and three touchdowns. Jaden Stahl rushed for one touchdown on nine carries for 44 yards while Lincoln Thury had four carries for 52 yards and two receptions for 51 yards.
For the Jaguars, Tyson Wentland went 6-of-16 passing for 111 yards, two interceptions and one touchdown while Shad Bosma went 3-of-6 passing for 66 yards and rushed for one touchdown for the Jaguars. Cole Feenstra had three receptions for 118 yards and seven tackles. Caden Van Drongelen had a team-high 12.5 tackles.
Avon (1-0) is idle next week and plays at Class 9B No. 1 Dell Rapids St. Mary on Sept. 3. Corsica-Stickney (0-1) hosts Sully Buttes on Aug. 27 in Corsica.
Brock Tuttle’s late touchdown run lifts Hanson over Parkston
BEE 20, Sioux Valley 16
BRIDGEWATER — An interception from Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan’s defense on the final play of the game lifted the No. 2-ranked Seahawks to a home season-opening victory over the No. 3 Cossacks.
Sioux Valley answered a Koby Kayser 80-yard touchdown run with about 8 minutes left with a 30-yard passing touchdown of its own, putting the Cossacks up 16-13 with 3:24 left.
But the second of two Kaden Klumb touchdown passes found Sam Hofer on a 24-yard strike to give BEE the lead for good with 1:14 left at 20-16 and the Seahawks defense made it stand up. Hunter Bailey had a 33-yard touchdown catch from Kaden Klumb to get the Seahawks on the board in the first half, which had BEE up 7-0 at halftime.
BEE (1-0) plays at Winner on Aug. 27. Sioux Valley (1-0 or 0-1) will visit Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central on Aug. 27 for a game in Wessington Springs.
Jim River 32, Flandreau 13
FLANDREAU — In its first game as a co-op involving players from Menno and Scotland, the Jim River Trappers earned a road win in Class 11B.
Dawson Bietz scored the first touchdown in Trappers history with a quarterback sneak nearly 7 minutes into the first quarter, and later found Austin Pillsbury for a 30-yard touchdown. Treyton Sayler had a pair of touchdowns and Turner Nicholson added a touchdown run for Jim River, which had a 12-6 halftime lead in the game. Sayler finished with 109 rushing yards and Nicholson had 99 yards on the ground. The Trappers had 366 yards of total offense, with 87 passing yards for Bietz.
Lane Johanson and Tanner Christenson each had rushing touchdowns for the Fliers, who got 72 of their 218 total yards from Tathan Headrick’s rushing effort.
The Trappers (1-0) will host Baltic for the team’s home opener Aug. 27 in Scotland. Flandreau (0-1) will travel to Beresford on Aug. 28.
McCook Central/Montrose 22, Beresford 13
SALEM — Gavin Gordon threw for 296 yards and two touchdowns to help McCook Central/Montrose to its first win of the season Friday night at home in an 11-man football game.
With MCM down 13-0 early, Gordon responded by hitting Will Cleveland for a 52-yard touchdown pass. After a 6-yard touchdown run by Trevor Hansen put MCM in the lead, Gordon found Joe Loudenburg later in the game for the clinching touchdown from 78 yards out. Hansen finished with 63 yards on 18 rushes. Cody Miles had six catches for 105 yards in the MCM win, as MCM outgained Flandreau, 349-192.
For Beresford, Isaiah Richards had 96 receiving yards on five catches, with quarterback Tate VanOtterloo completing 8-of-20 passes for 127 yards.
Both teams are in action next on Saturday, Aug. 28. MCM (1-0) will host Hill City for a 5 p.m. game in Salem, while Beresford (0-1) hosts Flandreau.
Platte-Geddes tops Canistota-Freeman after causing five turnovers
Howard 55, ORR 0
HOWARD — Howard broke out in the second half to roll to an opening-night victory.
Quarterback Taiden Hoyer was 5-of-6 passing for 132 yards for Howard, which led 14-0 at halftime. He threw two scores, both to Jace Sifore.
Ty Beyer led the way on the ground with eight carries, 115 yards, including an 85-yard score in the first half. Beyer had another score for six yards. John Callies had 10 carries for 100 yards and one touchdown.
Oldham-Ramona/Rutland had 166 yards passing and 36 yards rushing.
Howard (1-0) travels to Colman-Egan on Aug. 27. ORR (0-1) will host De Smet in Rutland on Aug. 27.

Kimball/White Lake 48, Colman-Egan 0
KIMBALL — Holden Havlik racked up 211 all-purpose yards and four touchdowns as Kimball/White Lake scored 28 points in the second quarter to pull away from Colman-Egan on Friday.
Havlik had five carries for 65 yards and two touchdowns. He also went 5-of-5 passing for 146 yards and two touchdowns. Iden Myer had two carries for 59 yards and a touchdown while Nathan Mohnen had a rushing touchdown as well for the Wildkats. Levi Nightingale chipped in with six tackles.
Colman-Egan’s Easton Williamson went 3-of-7 passing for 69 yards while Dawson Tolley had two receptions for 65 yards, rushed for 29 yards on two attempts and had a team-high seven tackles. Austin Gullickson had four carries for 25 yards and Brayden Wiese had three carries for 17 yards.
KWL (1-0) plays at Centerville on Aug. 27. Colman-Egan (0-1) takes on Howard on Aug. 27 in Colman.
Wall 19, Gregory 6
WALL — The Wall Eagles gained 214 on the ground in a win over Gregory on Friday.
Cedar Amiotte paced the rushing attack with 139 yards and one touchdown on 19 carries for the Eagles. Mason Heath had a rushing touchdown and Burk Blasius, who went 6 of 14 passing for 85 yards and a touchdown, also had 13 rush attempts for 59 yards. Norman Livermont led the Eagles defensively with 8.5 tackles.
Wall (1-0) hosts Harding County/Bison on Aug. 27. Gregory (0-1) hosts Irene-Wakonda on Aug. 27.

Burke 40, Irene-Wakonda 14 in Irene: The Cougars picked up a convincing non-conference win Friday over the Eagles. Burke (1-0) is idle next week, before hosting Gregory on Sept. 3 for the Cougars’ home opener. Irene-Wakonda (0-1) travels west to Gregory on Aug. 27.
