This amputee has made Speedgolf history
Location: Wallingford, England
Scott Richardson was the world’s first amputee competitor
to take part in a national Speedgolf championship
(SOUNDBITE) (English) SCOTT RICHARDSON SAYING:
“The foot I’ve got has got quite a grippy sole so that’s fine, I shouldn’t have any bother with that, it’s more the physical side for me rather than the hardware.”
A Speedgolf score combines the total shots taken, plus any penalty shots
added to the time to complete the entire 18 holes
Golfers run between holes
and save time by eliminating practice swings and some clubs
The title went to Luke Willett
who completed his first 18 holes in under 38 minutes
(SOUNDBITE) (English) LUKE WILLETT SAYING:”It feels incredible yes. When I found Speedgolf I have to say I wasn’t too sure about golf at that point, I’d been playing so much and that’s what (happens) when you do something a lot, and then I found Speedgolf and now I just can’t get enough of it. I don’t mean Speedgolf I mean golf in general. How do I feel as champion? I feel on top of the world.”
