Sep. 4—Alvernia gained just 88 yards in the second half in losing 42-6 to Ursinus in a season-opening, non-conference football game Friday night at Collegeville.
The Golden Wolves did not play last fall due to the coronavirus pandemic. This is just their third season.
Malcolm Carey, who finished with 113 yards on 20 carries, cut Alvernia’s deficit to 7-6, capping a 97-yard drive with an 7-yard run with 4:56 left in the first quarter. The PAT was blocked.
The Golden Wolves, who lost starting quarterback Kevin Washington in the second quarter, gained just 118 yards the rest of the way.
Ursinus’ Jack Psenicska threw for five touchdowns. He completed 19-of-32 passes for 255 yards. Samuel Ragland ran for 179 yards on 23 carries.
With Washington getting knocked out of the game, Alvernia ended up using three quarterbacks. Nick Rosahac, listed on the roster as a tight end, completed 7-of-11 passes for 67 yards, with one interception.
