All-Latino baseball team: The best all-time lineup of players born in Venezuela

Miguel Cabrera won the Triple Crown in 2012 and is a future Hall of Famer.

As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, USA TODAY Sports put together All-Latino baseball lineups from throughout Latin America.

Álex Carrasquel was MLB’s first Venezuelan-born player, debuting for the Washington Senators in 1939, beginning a long line of stars from the South American country.

Inducted in 1984, Luis Aparacio is the only Venezuelan player in the Hall of Fame – but that should change in the years to come. Slugger Miguel Cabrera is considered a shoo-in, 2010 Cy Young winner Félix Hernández will appear on the ballot in a few years and way down the road, 23-year-old Ronald Acuña Jr. already has his career on a Hall of Fame path for the Atlanta Braves.

There were 64 players born in Venezuela on opening day rosters in 2021, second-most behind only the Dominican Republic.

Here are the players who made the team:

Catcher: Salvador Pérez, 2011-present

Salvador Perez is a five-time Gold Glove catcher with the Kansas City Royals.

First base: Andrés Galarraga, 1985-2004

Second base: José Altuve, 2011-present

Jose Altuve is a three-time batting champ currently on the Houston Astros.

Third base: Miguel Cabrera, 2003-present

Shortstop: Luis Aparicio, 1956-73 (Hall of Fame)

Luis Aparicio was a nine-time Gold Glove winner and a Hall of Famer.

Outfield: Bobby Abreu, 1996-2014

Outfield: Carlos González, 2008-19

Outfield: Magglio Ordóñez, 1997-2011

Designated hitter: Tony Armas, 1999-2008

Utility: Melvin Mora, 1999-2011

Starting pitcher: Félix Hernández, 2005-2019

Felix Hernandez won 169 games and the 2010 AL Cy Young award.

Starting pitcher: Freddy García, 1999-2013

Starting pitcher: Johan Santana, 2000-12

Relief pitcher: Francisco Rodriguez, 2002-17
