Weeks after the Chicago White Sox received the Nike City Connect jersey treatment, cross-town rivals the Chicago Cubs are also getting a lineup of fun uniforms and apparel reflective of the The Windy City’s diverse culture.
Paying homage to all 77 of Chicago’s distinct neighborhoods, the jersey’s navy and powder blue color draws inspiration from the colors of the Chicago flag. On the left sleeve, a circular patch symbolizes the connectivity of Chicago’s districts. The patch also pays homage to various Chicago emblems like transit tokens and the municipal device.
The “Respect Our Neighborhood” detail is perhaps the most notable highlight. Located above the jock tag, it reimagines the Wrigley Field’s exit sign. Finally, the “call to action” is designed to honor the uniqueness and diversity of all Chicago’s communities. The team will make their on-field debut wearing the uniforms when they host the St. Louis Cardinals for a primetime showdown on Saturday.
