Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson is expected to face discipline in the coming weeks over the dozens of sexual misconduct allegations against him that have surfaced over the past year-plus. His union is arming itself to wage a high-powered, gloves-off battle on his behalf.

The NFL Players Association is preparing to vigorously defend Watson against his looming suspension, people familiar with the matter said. The union has retained prominent lawyer Jeffrey Kessler on behalf of Watson in the case, a move the union typically makes for its most significant and contentious issues.
