49ers, Colts make NFL history with odd yardage stat originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea
In what was a sloppy edition of “Sunday Night Football,” the 49ers and Indianapolis Colts made some NFL history with an odd yardage stat.
Tonight’s @Colts – @49ers game was the first game in NFL history in which both teams had a 100-yard rusher and a 100-yard receiver yet neither team had 300 yards of offense.

Both teams came up just short of the 300-yard mark in the 30-18 Colts win, as Indianapolis racked up 295 and the 49ers finished with 280 total.
49ers rookie Elijah Mitchell matched former Colts first-round draft pick Jonathan Taylor with 107 rushing yards on the night, and each found the end zone once.
In what has been the silver lining of the 2021 season for the 49ers offense, Deebo Samuel put together his third game with 100 or more receiving yards. Even with the 49ers already having had their bye week, Samuel still ranks fourth in the NFL in receiving yards with 648 on the season.

Michael Pittman Jr. accumulated 105 receiving yards, including a 28-yard touchdown catch from Carson Wentz in the fourth quarter that put Sunday’s game on ice.
With an “atmospheric river” drenching the Bay Area in rain, the Colts and 49ers combined for seven fumbles (four lost). Wentz and Jimmy Garoppolo combined for four total turnovers.
They might have made some NFL history, but both teams likely will be moving on quickly from what was a rough game all around at Levi’s Stadium in Week 7.
